The Area 1 Inside Electrical JATC has the honor of being the only open shop electrical program to own and operate their own education and training center. All classes are credited through Clackamas Community College and are taught off campus at the Area 1 Inside Electrical JATC Electrical Training Center.
The Area 1 Inside Electrical JATC is comprised of a dedicated group of individuals who donate several hours a month to serve the needs of the apprentice and the electrical contractor.

In December, 2005, the JATC purchased their own building on NE 42nd Avenue in Portland. We now have the ability to provide all classes, lab shops, and administrative offices and support in one location.
The Area 1 Inside Electrical JATC is a state certified apprenticeship and training program for the non-union inside electrician. Our program is a 4-year education and training program. At the end of 4 years, our apprentices graduate from our program with over 576 hours of classroom instruction and 8,000 field hours.
School is 1 night a week for 4 hours with additional lab classes scheduled on alternate nights, September through June. Students are responsible for tuition and books. All classes are held at the JATC Training Center. Classes are progressive. You have to start at the beginning of the school year. No late entires.
